Notariaat Notawest
Notary Lien Van Cauwenberg commissioned Coopers Design to create her new office and residence. To maintain interaction with the public space, the front patio was clad with a black perforated wall made by Limeparts-Drooghmans. This sleek cladding contrasts with the soft grey-green natural stone and acts as a light catcher, expanding the living area spatially. The perforated wall provides a subtle view of the street, keeping the living spaces private and intimate, yet still connected to the surroundings. With its unique design, the perforated wall creates a dynamic interplay of visibility and concealment, openness and enclosure, reflection and transparency. It is playful yet sleek, constantly shifting with the light. In the evening, the patio lights up beautifully, creating a visual connection between the home and passersby. The perforated pattern is a nod to the surrounding nature, giving the compact building a wider and more horizontal emphasis.
